In the first two months of 2014, the Whistler housing market has maintained the steady pace set throughout the end of 2013.  There were a total of 53 sales in Whistler this February, up from 50 in February one year ago reflecting a fairly stable and balanced market.  There were 79 new listings this February, compared to the 76 new listings in February one year ago.

The median price of chalets sold in the beginning of 2014 was $1 388 000, and the average price per square foot was roughly $509/sqft.  The median price of townhomes that sold in the beginning of 2014 was $ 630 000 and the average price per square foot was $546/sqft.  For condominiums, the median price was  $ 245 000 with an average price per square foot of $427.  Hopefully, the demand for Whistler properties continues to grow and the volume of sales and prices of homes sold will continue to rise.

Chalets have especially taken off to a hot start this year.  So far this quarter, the median chalet price of the 17 chalets is roughly 21% higher than to the median for 2013.   The average price was also significantly higher indicating that some of the more expensive properties have been selling.  You can see the seven properties that have sold for over $2 million below:

As we approach the first day of spring on March 20^th, the season where historically the most sales occur throughout Whistler and Greater Vancouver, we hope to see an increase in buyer demand generated from the recovering US economy.
